Sagrada is a dice-drafting and window-crafting board game where players compete to design the most beautiful stained-glass window for the Sagrada Familia basilica. Players take turns selecting colorful dice (representing glass pieces) from a shared pool and placing them on their individual window pattern boards, following specific placement rules.
Core Gameplay
The goal of the game is to score the most victory points after 10 rounds by fulfilling a combination of public and private objectives.
Dice Drafting and Placement: Each round, a number of dice are rolled and placed in a central drafting pool. Players take turns selecting one die at a time in a "snake draft" order (clockwise, then counter-clockwise) and placing it on their personal 4x5 window board.
Placement Restrictions: Placement requires careful planning due to specific constraints:
The first die must be placed on an edge or corner space.
Subsequent dice must be placed orthogonally or diagonally adjacent to a previously placed die.
A die may not be placed orthogonally (left, right, top, bottom) next to a die of the same color or the same number (shade).
Some spaces on the window pattern cards have specific color or number requirements that must be matched.
Tool Cards: Players can use "tool cards" by spending "favor tokens" to bend or break certain placement rules, helping to mitigate bad dice rolls or challenging board situations. More difficult window patterns provide more favor tokens at the start of the game.
Scoring: At the end of 10 rounds, players earn points for:
Successfully meeting public objective conditions (e.g., specific patterns or color combinations across the window).
Summing the values of all dice matching their secret private objective color.
Each unused favor token.
Points are deducted for any empty spaces remaining in the window.
