Bad Apples is a competitive, high-stakes auction and bluffing board game by Lost Boy Entertainment where players bid on bags of apples that might contain valuable points or "bad apples" that sabotage the lot. The goal is to accumulate the most points over ten rounds through cunning bidding and deception.
Gameplay Overview
Each round, players secretly choose one of their apple tokens (which have point values) to place into a communal burlap sack. These apples are then collectively auctioned off to the highest bidder.
Bidding Process: Players take turns moving clockwise to either raise the current bid using their bidding tokens or pass.
Information Reveal: Every time a player passes, one apple is randomly withdrawn from the burlap sack and revealed, giving the remaining bidders more information about the potential value of the entire lot. Players who pass receive a small consolation of bidding tokens, which they can use in future rounds.
Winning the Auction: The last player remaining wins the auction, pays their bid, and collects all the apples (both revealed and unrevealed) from the sack.
Scoring: The game lasts ten rounds. At the end, players tally their points from the apples they've won and any remaining bidding tokens they have accumulated. Special "bad apples" in the mix can also eat the highest or lowest value apples in a lot, adding an element of risk and sabotage.
